We belong to the VISAVET Research Centre from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). We work in research and teaching on animal infectious diseases.

  • La investigación epidemiologica de la Peste Porcina Clásica y Africana (PPC y PPA) son dos de nuestras prioridades.
  • En SUAT trabajamos en la aplicación de la termografía a la sanidad animal, especialmente ventajosa en animales en libertad y de zoo.

ASF Diagnostics, Surveillance, Epidemiology and Control

African swine fever Diagnostics, Surveillance, Epidemiology and ControlProfessor José Manuel Sánchez-Vizcaíno gave the conference entitled "African swine fever Overview: Global Importance, ASF Virus Biology and Disease Control Measures" in the  workshop "African swine fever Diagnostics, Surveillance, Epidemiology and Control: Identification of Researchable Issues Targeted to the Endemic Areas within sub-Saharan Africa" which was on 19, 20, 21 and July 22  in Nairobi (Kenya).

Madrid, ASF capital

ParticipantsFrom  27th of June to the 1st of July, Madrid city is hosting the "Training course on African Swine Fever (ASF) epidemiology and laboratory diagnosis (ASF-EPILAB)". 

The activities take place at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Complutense University and at the Research Center for Animal Health (CISA-INIA), this one is European Union and FAO Reference Laboratory for ASF.

Presentation of the project Marine Animal Health

L´Oceanografic y la Universidad Complutense

This Thursday, May 26 has been presented the project: Marine Animal Health.

The general director of the City of Arts and Sciences, Pedro GarciaRibot, the head of Veterinary Oceanogràfic, Daniel Garcia, and director of the Reference Laboratory of the Organization for Animal Health (OIE) of the Universidad Complutense, José ManuelSánchez-Vizcaíno, present the project  "Marine Animal Health",initiated by both entities. 

Marine Animal HealthThis project arises from the collaboration in recent years between VISAVET Health Surveillance Centre (Complutense University) and the Oceanographic. The aim is to improve the health of the Mediterranean marine fauna and, by extension, the preservation of the marine ecosystem in general.
