Rinderpest has been eradicated
Human action does clear the planet for the first time an animaldisease
Yesterday, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) officially declared eradicated rinderpest, one of the deadliest diseases for these animals. As explained by Professor of Animal Health (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universidad Complutense de Madrid), José Manuel Sánchez Vizcaíno, "this is the first animal disease that has been eradicated by human action, something that has been achieved "with a global vaccination program continued and persistent " and a " very effective immunization. "

Presentation of the project Marine Animal Health
This Thursday, May 26 has been presented the project: Marine Animal Health.
The general director of the City of Arts and Sciences, Pedro GarciaRibot, the head of Veterinary Oceanogràfic, Daniel Garcia, and director of the Reference Laboratory of the Organization for Animal Health (OIE) of the Universidad Complutense, José ManuelSánchez-Vizcaíno, present the project "Marine Animal Health",initiated by both entities.
This project arises from the collaboration in recent years between VISAVET Health Surveillance Centre (Complutense University) and the Oceanographic. The aim is to improve the health of the Mediterranean marine fauna and, by extension, the preservation of the marine ecosystem in general.
