We belong to the VISAVET Research Centre from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). We work in research and teaching on animal infectious diseases.

  • Proyecto de Innovación "Empleo de Tecnologías para evaluar el estado de salud, bienestar y productividad en ganado"
  • Somos Laboratorio de Referencia de la Organización Mundial de la Sanidad Animal (OIE) en Peste Porcina Africana (PPA) y Peste Equina Africana PEA.
  • Realizamos el diagnóstico de los principales virus que afectan a las abejas, siendo pioneros en el desarrollo y puesta a punto de nuevas técnicas para su estudio.
  • La investigación epidemiologica de la Peste Porcina Clásica y Africana (PPC y PPA) son dos de nuestras prioridades.

9th International Congress of the ESVV

European Society for Veterinary Virology Madrid 2012During the 8th International Congress of the European Society for Veterinary Virology (ESVV)  in September 2009 our Veterinary Faculty was selected to organize the 9th Congress of the Society. This Congress will be held in September 5th,6th and 7th, 2012.

The ESVV first meeting was in 1989 and actually has over 170 veterinary members from other disciplines related to virology, from about 21 countries.
This society meets annually at a conference that seeks to promote the exchange of knowledge and methodology and collaboration between institutions and research groups. Therefore, it is our pride that Spain has been chosen to host the 2012 edition.
“One World, One Health, One Virology” , will be the title of the 2012 edition, and these are some of the topics covered:  
  • Emerging viruses
  • Viral zoonoses
  • Epidemiology, risk assessment and modeling
  • Enzootic viral infectious
  • Vaccines, antivirals and viral immunology
  • Viral diagnosis
  • Clinical virology
  • Evolution and genomics
  • Host-virus interactions 
The novelty of this edition is the union for a day with the international conference celebrating the European Society for Clinical Virology (ESCV).
 
 

 

UE-Asia Meeting: "New generation researchers in pig viral diseases: building bridges from labs to policy and the farm"

The international meeting:  "New generation researches in pig viral diseases: building bridges from labs to policy and the farm", was held in Madrid last July 12th, 13th and 14th.
